Tienda de Modelos a Control

Welcome to the Remote Control Pages, here you may find information about the planes I have and that you might want to build or fly,

When I started there was no such information in Colombia and the adepts where few so I hope that this pages are of help.

I would like to thank my good friend Alex Kadosh who gave me my first RC Flying Lesson, in the city of Cali, I have to keep on learning in San Andres by myself., the San Andres RC Flying Club only have two Members, and a few honorary members in Canada.

I commited myself to learn to fly RC models by buying an Easy 40 from Hangar 9, I bought the plane and all the accesories that were needed and them some more. This was an ARF plane and I built it in less than a week , all this with out any experience on the hobby, I was learning to fly the following week. I became a member of Club Los Halcones and El Tapete both of them in the city of Cali.

My Easy 40 was a blue one and I have no pictures of it, after giving me at least 15 crashes I landed it on the ocean about 1/2 a mile out to sea in front of my brothers house and flying out of the road that goes by the house. There where no perfect places to fly in the island, so after that i choose to fly only float planes and flying boats.

Almost at the same time that I was flying the Easy 40 , a Starfire 40 caught my eye , so I got myself one , put it together and now I had 2 planes to fly and crash, that one lasted , while in Cali at least 3 Crashes, I flew this 2 planes for a while .

The starfire is a quick, very stable, and great for aereobatics plane specially if you are in the learning process and want to do everything before you learn to walk. It is a very hot plane on the aereobatic maneuvers it also lands at a high speed.

This plane met its demise while taking off with out checking the switch inverters in the radio, so I turn left, but it went right, right into the 55 gallon drums on the docks.( Well I guess that learning by myself is hard but there is only one other person in this island that flys RC Planes).

While in Cali I Flew a Dirty Birdie which I got for free ( a gift from Alex), the .61 engine on it I bought second hand.
Here in the island I have got to stick to trainer type planes since I have no space to fly them, I have flown over the ocean more than I like to, taken off the street against a better judgement, but hey I have got to fly, I have flown out of a pasture in the naval station here but there are to many palm trees I have to land by dancing trough them and one of my trainers the oldest one now, had a terrible fatal encounter.

I then acquire an Easy 2 from Hangar 9, which is very similar to my first model the easy fly 40, Like the booklet said I put it together in about two hours time. It was easy to set up, Just strengthen the Firewall this due to my experience with the Easy Fly 40 where the firewall use to come a little flimsy My guess is that by now this has been fixed.

The Easy 2 was been powered with an OS .46 SF ABC which at 3000 feet altitude did very well now at sea level is a powerfull engine for a .40 Model. The plane is quick and responsive. I would eventually eliminate the dihedral angle on the wings so that I can do more with it.

At the same timne in July I Bought a Superstar 60 from Hobbico which I put together in about a week working on it in between minutes at my office. It is powered by a an OS .61 with a Pipe. I have not flown it yet. very easy to put together.

As it can be noticed allmost all of my models have been AWARF kits. This is due to the fact that it is easier for a beginner to get into the air quicker, and also because there was no hobby shop here in island, everything has to be either flown in or ship in from the states so is kind of hard to get something that I either forgot to buy or to get stuff for repairs. Anyway I will start in the future to built from scratch that is from stick kits , and I will do so with a J 3 Piper Cub.

The flight box I put together myself, before doing my first flight and at the same time that I built the Easy 40, It is very practical I Can carry everything in it, even the radio if I wished, it is built around a rubbermaid stool, it has an aluminun face plate where a power panel sits in the middle, the 12 v battery that gives the power is a dry cell battery lying sideways underneath the stool. In the inside a one gallon black plastic can of automotive oil is the Methanol tank which is hooked to an electric fuel pump wich sends the fuel trough a hose that comes out the side and from where the models tanks can be filled. It also has pegs for extra propīs, the Ni- Starter, Rubbers , electric starter, extra glow plugs on the cover, and some cleanning accesories, plus tools.

My Main radio I carry on an gutted video camera case which I filled with a piece of carved styrofoam there I also carry the scaled voltmeter. The radio is a Futaba 7 CAP , I also have a Futaba T6AXs, a Futaba 6yf and a Conquest 4 channel radio.
